Warm & fuzzy...

After spending over year verbally trashing Commissioner Jeff Stabins on the radio, in emails and at public forums, the chairwoman of the Hernando County Republican Executive Committee, Ana Trinque is now calling for unity within the party. Ms. Trinque stated on local talk radio this morning that Mr. Stabins has a lot of work to do to win in the November General election. Ms. Trinque glossed over Mr. Stabins 43% win over two opponents to promote more of her personal agenda. Comments like these by Ms. Trinque, in reference to Commissioner Stabins, are less than encouraging for Republicans in the general election outlook, especially when the party is promoting unity. Ms. Trinque went on in her statements to generally infer that Mr. Stabins would have to come around to her way of thinking to get local Republican support. How's that for a "warm and fuzzy, Hilliary moment" by the HCREC chairwoman for our local candidates?

I must say you have a warped interpretation of events. Jeff Stabins had 57% of the republicans vote against him. Regarding that hillary moment you touched on; some Hillary supporters will be voting for John McCain as some republicans will be voting for the democrat opposing Jeff Stabins, hence the comment Mr Stabins has some work to do. I do wish you would think first before letting your bias show through.

Like it or not, Ms. Trinque's opinion is shared by most thinking Republicans and all other conservatives. The nice thing is she speaks her opinion without the venom and snide remarks that dominate the "Positive Appproach"

Anon 1: A "43% win" in a three person race for Jeff was an outstanding achievement considering all the nasty, vile comments leveled at him on local talk radio by the naysayers and malcontents.

Anon 2: Sadly, you do not have a clue about the ideology of most "thinking Republicans". The Republican Party is supposed to be the "Big Tent" and not just for the far right wingnuts and fringe lunatics like yourself. You, and others like you, have lost touch with reality from preaching your hateful trash on a daily basis on local talk radio.

Both sides of this GOP rift need to knock off the childish rhetoric and turn up the class level a notch...or ten. I think this blog's author and Trinque are embarassingly juvenile and shrill. The local party is split and bitter right now, and the electorate is apathetic and unfocused. Kingsley and Rowden would win in a landslide if the election were held tomorrow. What a missed opportunity that would be.

Trinque and Covell...lead by example or get out of the way and allow others to do so before it's too late.

At this time, all the blabbering must stop. The primary is over. We have Rep. candidates we must stand behind and that inludes our Chairwomen of the loacal REC. Adkins, Druzbick, Stabins, along with Anderson, Brown-Waite, Fasano, Nugent and Schenk need our support. These divided and snide comemnts on the radio and in the newspapers MUST stop. We need to be the "REC" Not the "Hernando County Tax Alliance Government Gone Wild REC"! It is time to join together and get our candidates elected. Our leaders NEED to LEAD!!
Setting a good example would be a good start.

While I thank you for your comments, and welcome your opinion, I do not agree with your assessment about the temperature of the local Republican party. The local party officials have rejected any opinion other than their own hard core, far right agenda.

The Republican party is supposed to be the party under the "Big Tent" except that concept does not exist in Hernando County. We had the majority of Republican candidates win their primaries last week in spite of the hateful rhetoric spewed from the bowels of the REC.

The REC Chairwomen MUST get a grip on her emotions and take control of her BIG TENT. We would all be wise to give her that opportunity. If she does not grasp it....we (R's) lose some races. Your points are not missed and you are not alone. Many have been insulted and shunned through the primary season and some way before. that said, the bickering is "BAD"! IT NEEDS TO STOP. You have made your point. I would rather work with the FAR right than suffer under the FAR LEFT! Let's only hope that some understand that your anger was a request for inclusion. What strikes me funny about our REC is that they are so quick to criticize and are so sensitive to criticism. Time will tell if Chairwomen Trinque see's that. The REC Chair has very little time left to pull this party together before it implodes. It would seem prudent that we give her one last chance now that the primaries are over...she blew it on her 1st opportunity the day after the primary by continuing to knock Republican Candidates publicly. Most people don't get a 2nd chance within the same week, hopefully she will seize the moment. Monday starts a new week, she has one last opportunity, she can do it....we'll see if she wants too!!

Thank you for your wisdom and insight on this situation. I agree that Monday is a new day & much work is needed to get our Republicans elected in November.

We have much to be proud of in our party of hope, growth and opportunity and I hope certain individuals within the REC can see we are one big family even if we have an occassional squabble to make valid points.

The primaries are over and it is time to unify as a strong party base for the November elections!
