Weeki Wachee Springs and the State Reach Agreement
WEEKI WACHEE, FL- Yesterday, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s (DEP) Division of Recreation and Parks hosted officials from Weeki Wachee Springs, L.L.C. At the conclusion of the meeting, an agreement was signed by both parties, bringing Weeki Wachee Springs one step closer to becoming a state park. The agreement is now pending approval of the agreement by the Southwest Florida Water Management District.

So the agreement is secret, thanks to the court process. The public thus can't see whether certain lawyers are enriching themselves at the public trough, nor are we allowed to evaluate the deal as a fair one for taxpayers, or not. The sanctity of the court system is more important. Why am I thinking "Follow the money"?
DEP & Weeki Wachee records should be open to the public but I agree that it is a little late after the deal has been sealed with 2 of the 3 parties involved without having any public oversight. SWIFTMUD has been pushing for DEP to gain control since they purchased this property so they can gain control of the spring so this looks like it will be a done deal...
