Could become a stalemate

Much discussion has taken place in the last several weeks about the empty seat on the Hernando County Commission. Robert Nolte had an editorial column in this morning's Hernando Today about the important issues our county will face in the upcoming months. Mr. Nolte suggested that governor should appoint an interim commissioner until such time that the Robinson-Rocco debacle is settled in court. He mentioned the hazards of having a four member board of county commission. With a four member board it is possible that nothing will be accomplished by the county commission in the coming months. Mr. Nolte's column focused on critical issues that could become a stalemate with a four member board but he forgot to mention one big issue. In January, it will be time for the county commissioners to choose a new chairperson. Which one of the commissioners will cross that great partisan divide to vote for an opposing party member for chairperson? Better yet, what happens if they have a 2-2 vote for the person nominated? Does that mean Commissioner Rowden will remain as chairwoman for another year? I believe a 2-2 vote nullifies the motion which would leave Commissioner Rowden seated as chairwoman. Someone needs to call the governor ...

Everyone knows that Diane nominated you for the P&Z and that you support Rose Rocco. Stop with the anti-democtratic posts no one is buying it.

Actually, I was voted onto the
P & Z with a 5-0 vote of the county commission which consisted of 5 democrats in 2000; Whitehouse, Aiken, Kingsley, Rowden and Robinson(then democrat). These democrats gained a majority on the county commission in 2000, due in part, to the far right wing negative attacks that you & your friends pushed on the populous of Hernando County. This extremist negativity by GOP elitists continues still today in our county.

were you not running for office in 2000, and maybe you were part of the reason there was a democratic majority?

Why don't you call the sheriff, since the two of you get along so well, oh wait you blast him just like you do everybody else, no love lost there either.

I'm sure you would have a better shot if you switched parties and allowed Diane and Chris to back you. I doubt anyone in the Republican Party would lift a finger for you.

Anon #2: Yes, I ran in 2000. In fact, I immersed myself in party politics after the primary in 2000, at the request of former REC chairman Frank Colletti. Mr. Colletti was attempting to rebuild a fractured republican party after the 2000 election. Subsequently, I resigned from internal party politics in 2004 because I refused to be a mind-numbed lemming for the far right wing agenda. BTW, many others have stepped away, no ran away, from the REC for the hatred and bigotry that has showcased this current leadership.

Anon #3: Looks like you need a refresher course on my past relationship with the sheriff. Our company withdrew a $32K pledge to his department for one reason, and one reason only. His department did not find it necessary to investigate crimes against me that included prowling at our home, tampering with my car, threats on my personal safety, harassing phone calls to my home & business, etc. Our belief then, as it is now, was we did not find it necessary to reward the sheriff with our hard earned money for his department's lack of performance.

Anon #4: Your threats, yours insults, your hatred, and your continued negativity towards me, and many others in this county, only disgusts the moderate wing of the republican party. In the words of Governor Christine Todd Whitman, "It's My Party, Too. So I will repeat again, I do not intend to change my party affliation. BTW, the thought of the current leadership of republican party ever helping me, or anyone, is very amusing since they only want individuals that will march in lockstep with their antiquated beliefs. History will repeat itself again, and again, until such time there is a change of leadership in the REC...

What happened to the "big tent"? Hernando's GOP seems to have a "pup tent."

Anyway, latest Robinson-Rocco news is that Judge Booth will hear and make a final ruling on the case Monday, 12/11. His ruling could go pretty quick to the Florida Supreme Court for a decision, if the loser decides to go that route.

I love your description "pup tent" & hope you don't might if I borrow it in the future!

Thanks for the update on the Robinson/Rocco news...
