Pick a fight

After watching the Online streaming of yesterday's Hernando County Commission meeting it became apparent that one commissioner has come to the table to pick a fight. Newly sworn-in Commissioner James Atkins took no time in drilling several county employees at the podium in a less than polite fashion. Some of his questions were relevant but his delivery method certainly needs to be polished for the public.
One suggestion for Atkins would be to purchase a copy of Robert's Rules of Order so he can conduct himself in a civil manner during these business meetings. He continually interrupted everyone at his first meeting, even after he was reminded of protocol by the chairwoman.
The most revealing comment made by Atkins came at the end of the meeting. He said, "They had a super majority and it was time to get busy". Chairwoman Rocco was quite gracious in her response, saying she hoped it was a reference to gender and not political because she fully intended to represent the public in a non-partisan fashion.
The giant chip Atkins is carrying around on his shoulder will become a burden to all of us if he cannot come to grips with his new-found responsibilities as a commissioner. It must be tough hanging from those marionette strings, dancing to the music of the state committeeman and REC chairwoman...

Mr. Adkins SCARES me with his attitude and lack of being a team player. It clearly shows in his official photo a very angry person with a "superior" attitude. Mr. Adkins needs to learn protocal and I agree he needs to read Roberts Rules of Order.

This is the only time I will ever comment on your "Positive Approach", I have read your rants too many times. You carry a grudge from your past that you can not get over. It is time that you take a long hard look at yourself to find out why you can't get past the 2004 election. Mr. Adkins was not the only person that ran in that election, that got more votes than you did, yet for some reason you have singled him out. You claim to be a republican, you claim to follow Reagan, you fail to do so. You come across as a bitter woman. I feel sorry for you. You are intelligent go forward and instead of always bashing reach out and reach up, if you have "positive" instruction pick of the phone and call the man, don't hide behind your blog, or write nasty letters to the editor, after all in four years you might be proud of the man that serves district 5.

alc has no credibility by only allowing comments that agree with her warped, sick way of thinking.

Well said, Anon #1.

Anon #2: Frankly, I have no use for James Atkins. In my opinion, Atkins has been morally bankrupt and ethically challenged for quite awhile. Anyone that would actively blackmail a fellow employee while he was fire chief for the city of Brooksville deserves NO respect from anyone. Aktins even bragged about his blackmail activities to anyone that would listen which only serves to illustrate what a useless individual he really is. Being so wrapped up in his "little man" sydrome has warped Aktins sense of decency for his fellow man.

Mr. Aktins under-handed activities in the republican party are also well known to many in this county. I will give him credit though, he didn't pull off this stunt by himself. He was aided by the REC chairwoman, the state committee people to put himself in the driver seat at the commission. Their manipulation of the absentee ballots & phone calls (at REC headquarters) with phoney endorsements for Atkins worked to fool the electorate...

Anon #3: Here's your comment. Seems you are a little out of touch with reality...
